Times tables practice
Times tables make almost every other part of maths easier: division, fractions, area and more. Pick a table below for a chart, a trick and practice, or try mixed questions at the right level.
The multiplication tables check
In June of Year 4, children in England take the multiplication tables check: 25 questions on tables up to 12 × 12, with 6 seconds to answer each. Noggli does not time your child, on purpose. Children who know the facts well are quick anyway, and children who are worried get slower with a clock.
The order children learn them
Year 2: the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Year 3: the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Year 4: the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables. In Year 5, children use them to find missing factors, such as ? × 7 = 56.
Calm practice that sticks
A clue, not a cross
A wrong answer gets a clue and another go. A second miss shows how it works, step by step.
No clock
Nothing counts down. Confidence first, speed follows on its own.
The right level
After a few questions Noggli knows where your child is, and every question after that adapts.
Questions parents ask
What is the Year 4 multiplication tables check?
A short online check taken in June of Year 4. Children answer 25 times tables questions up to 12 × 12, with 6 seconds for each. It is not pass or fail, and schools use the results to see who needs more support.
Which times tables should my child learn first?
The 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year 2, then the 3, 4 and 8 times tables in Year 3, then the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables in Year 4.
Does Noggli time my child?
No. The check is timed, but practising against a clock makes many children anxious and slower. Noggli builds confidence first, and speed follows once the facts are secure.
